DONALD E. MORGART
KILLED IN CRASH
AT LAWSHALL, ENG.

No definite information has been received concerning the airplane crash in which Pvt. Donald E. Morgart of Melbourne, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Morgart of Grinnell, lost is life April 23.

A letter of condolence sent his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Morgart of Melbourne, by Brigadier General Robert H. Dunlop, Acting Adjutant General, stated that the crash occurred in Lawshall, England, and that additional information could not be given at this time because details of the circumstances surrounding airplane accidents are seldom included in the original report to the War Department.

Donald was born August 26, 1923, on the farm six miles northwest of Grinnell, owned by his grandfather, N.J. Morgart, where his parents lived at the time. Seven years ago the family moved to Marshall county and for three years, lived on a farm near Green Mountain and later to a farm northwest o Marshalltown. They now live on a farm between Laurel and Melbourne.

Don graduated from the Marshalltown high school with the class of 1941. He was inducted into the service March 4, 1943 and arrived in England last October, where he served as a fire fighter at an airfield.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Wayne, now in service at Camp Hood, Texas, and John, at home and one sister, Myrtha, at home. One sister preceded him in death.
