SISTER MARY
DIES AS RESULT
OF AN EMBOLISM

Word came to Grinnell Friday of the death of Sister Mary Austin, former superintendent of nurses and X-ray technician at St. Francis hospital.

Sister Austin's death occurred Thursday evening at the St. Francis hospital at Macomb, Ill., as the result of an embolism following a major operation. Only the preceding day her condition was so improved that she was believed out of danger and well on the way to recovery.

Funeral services to be conducted at 9:30 Saturday morning at Macomb.

Sister Austin joined the nursing staff of the local hospital in 1919 and was transferred to the Macomb hospital last August. Her passing will be deeply mourned by the people of Grinnell and the surrounding communities whom she served so faithfully and efficiently for 24 years.
