MRS. MATILDA SHIFFLETT

Mrs. Matilda Shifflett, 70, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 8:20 o'clock a.m., Satudray, after a brief illness.

Born near Sioux City October 31, 1874, she had lived in Cedar Rapids for the last two years.

She was married to Louis A. Shifflett, formerly of this community, on June 21, 1899. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Everett J. of Bronxville, N.Y., and Pvt. Asher W. of Camp Pickett, Va.; and a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Rogers of Oelwein. A son, Howard Clayton, died in 1911 at the age of six. She is also survived by a brother, Louis M. Wold of Cedar Rapids, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, conducted by the minister of the First Christian church. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Everett J. Shifflett, of Bronxville, N.Y., Pvt. Asher W. Shifflett of Camp Pickett, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rogers an family of Oelwein, and Mrs. Theo. Wold and two daughters.
