KEITH WATTS SERVICES SET

Keith Watts, 56, owner of Watts Vault and Monument Co. of Montezuma, died of cancer Tuesday morning, July 26, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Montezuma United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Darlington officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.

The son of Warren and Mae Strong Watts, he was born July 17, 1927, at Montezuma. He had owned and operated the monument firm since 1957.

Mr. Watts was a member of the Montezuma Volunteer Fired Department, which he had served as chief for 10 years. He was president of the Montezuma Community School District Board of Education at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Montezuma Lions Club, the National Monument Builders Association, and the board of directors of the Iowa Monument Builders Association.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; one son, Craig Watts of Montezuma; a daughter, Peggy Watts of Fort Collins, Colo.; his mother, Mae Watts of Montezuma; three grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle Watts of Des Moines and Dennis Watts of Montezuma; and two sisters, Phyllis Mann of Carlisle and Joetta Bates of Deep River.
