ALPHA S. WATTS

Alpha Sherman Watts, son of John and Sarah Waddell Watts, was born January 2, 1874, at Springfield, near What Cheer, and died October 26, 1959, at the Mahaska hospital at Oskaloosa.

He was united in marriage to Mary Varner, August 25, 1903, at Montezuma. Six children were born to this union, Merle of Waterloo; Inez of Seattle, Washington; Vema Gilbreaith, Evelyn Dunnick, and Warren and Autumn Watts, all of Montezuma. Surviving besides his wife and children are 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Riggs of Barnes City.

Mr. Watts spent the greater part of his life as a farmer in the Barnes City vicinity.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Steffy Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Barnes City cemetery with Rev. William Riechoff officiating.

Mrs. John Grubb sang "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. William Landstrum.

Casket bearers were: John V. Westercamp, Walter Ketels, Roger Sampson, Alfred Graham, Gail Riggs, and William Landstrum.
