RITES FRIDAY

Violet Maack, 66, of 1411 Elm St., died Monday, Oct. 18, at University Hospital, Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The daughter of Louis and Freda Lentz Maack, she was born Nov. 3, 1904, in Sheridan Township. She received her education in that community and was a graduate of Grinnell High School. She was employed as a telephone operator by General Telephone Co. for 25 years, and for the past five years had been employed as an operator at Grinnell College.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 13, 1919, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. O.C. Biermann.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lucille Maack of Tucson, Ariz., and was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Earl V. Maack.

Funeral services for Miss Maack will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the James-Schalinski Funeral Home. The Rev. Marcus E. Reitz will officiate and burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
