Abigail was born March 19, 1991, in Grinnell, to Ralph and Beth (Dunwoody) Bohstedt. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell-Newburg schools, graduating in 2009. She received the Matt Langeveen award for her service to others and participated in student council, drama, choir, tennis and cross-country. She attended Beloit College in Wisconsin, receiving a BA in Sociology in 2013. She achieved the dean's list several times, worked for substance-free efforts on campus, and was involved in student government. Abigail also spent a semester studying in Istanbul, Turkey.

She worked in the admissions office at Monmouth College for two years, and since last August she has been Associate Director of Admissions at Ivy Tech Community College in East Chicago, IN, where, according to her supervisors, she was "making a positive impact."

Abigail will be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and her love of purple, Disney Princesses, and zebras. Abigail was compassionate, supportive, and loving; her joy and positive spirit were contagious. She always found the good in everyone, and was a wonderful reminder that being compassionate matters more than being right.

She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Mark Bohstedt of Des Moines and Seth Bohstedt, with fiancee Kaelyn Sale, of Johnston; her maternal grandparents, Ron and Maida Dunwoody of Lynnville; her fiance's family; and countless other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edward and Anne Bohstedt.

Mailing address for Ralph and Beth Bohstedt: 47 Fountain Street, Clinton, NY 13323.
