SCHEDULE RITES
ON TUESDAY FOR
MRS. ETHEL MANLY

Mrs. Ethel Manly, 76, prominent Grinnell resident, died suddenly at her home Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert D. Dewey, minister of the Congregational church, officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Orrie Haag, Maynard Long, Earl Mitchell, Edd Phillips, Dennis Ritter, and Bill Welsh. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the daughter of Mary Lee Rose and George W. Mart and was born in Henderson, Ky., on Jan. 29th, 1885. The family moved to Grinnell when she was a young girl in 1892 and she received her education in the Grinnell public schools, graduating from Grinnell high school with the class of 1904.

On Oct. 30th, 1908, she was united in marriage with Carter Manly. Mr. and Mrs. Manly lived in West Union for five years. They returned to Grinnell for a short time and it here that her husband Carter, died on Apr. 19th, 1920.

Mrs. Manly lived in Marshalltown from 1922 until 1927 when she returned to Grinnell to make her home. She was a member of the Eastern Star for a number of years and the Priscilla Club.

Survivors include a nephew, George H. Mart of Grinnell and a grandniece, Mrs. Gretchen Reimer of Iowa City; as well as her sisters-in-law, Mrs. William H. Mart and Mrs. C.M. Manly I., both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Olivet at the age of five; her husband, Carter Manly; and a brother, William H. Mart in 1944.
