RITES HELD FOR MRS. MART

Wilhelmina Mart, 93, the widow of pioneer Grinnell motion picture theater operator William Herbert Mart, died Sunday evening at Friendship Manor.

Graveside services for Mrs. Mart were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, officiating.

The daughter of Dirk and Neilje Cook, she was born March 20, 1884, at Pella. She attended Pella schools.

On March 19, 1906, she was married to William H. Mart in Newton. The couple had one son, George H. Mart.

Mr. and Mrs. Mart owned and operated several theaters in Grinnell, including the Star and Bijou. In 1917, they built the Strand Theater, now the Cinema. In 1934, they acquired the Iowa Theater, located where Bob Reimer Clothing now stands.

Mrs. Mart was preceded in death by her husband in 1944 and her son, George in February 1977. She is survived by a granddaughter and a sister, Mrs. Marie Ortwieg of Santa Ana, Calif.
