RITES CONDUCTED

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home for Blanche McCain Miller, 78, of Rte. 2, Malcom, who died Friday morning at Grinnell General Hospital West.

The Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the services. Vocalist was Edward H. Bohstedt and organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pall bearers were Clarence Corbett, V.D. Hotchkins, Leonard Evans, Don Hull, Floyd Daley and Keith Downey.

Burial was in Marengo Cemetery at Marengo.

The daughter of Harvey E. and Imogene Raffle Oldaker, Mrs. Miller was born on May 20, 1890, at Marengo. She attended the Marengo grade schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1909. She attended the University of Iowa at Iowa City and graduated in 1915 with a B.A. degree.

On Oct. 25, 1916, she was married to Roy E. McCain of Randolph, Iowa, at Red Oak. To this union were born five children: Lt. Col. Ralph E. McCain of Jefferson City, Mo., Carol F. McCain of Malcom, Mrs. Verle (Joyce E.) Palmer of Newton, and Max Harvey and Dale William who died in infancy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. McCain, on July 25, 1956.

On June 10, 1959, she was married to George Miller of Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. Miller taught high school in Randolph, Iowa, and in the rural schools of Poweshiek County, Iowa, for many years.

Survivors include her husband, George Miller; her three children; two grandchildren; one brother, John Oldaker of Shingleton, Mich.; and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Giving of Jamestown, N.D.
