LOREN PIERSEL

Loren Piersel, 94 of Deep River died Nov. 12, at the English Valley Care Center in North English. Services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 16, at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be in the Indianapolis Cemetery near What Cheer. Visitation begins after 12 p.m. Nov. 15, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Loren Lloyd Piersel, son of Clifford and Dema (Dugger) Piersel, was born July 5, 1918 in Mahaska County. He was a 1937 graduate of Lacey High School.

January 29, 1939, Loren was united in marriage to Verna Benson. To this union two daughters were born, Bev and Connie. Loren and Verna purchased a farm in the Deep River area in 1955 and farmed for over 50 years. Verna passed away in 1976. Loren was then married to Olive Faulkner in 1977. Loren enjoyed attending weekly card parties with his neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed playing checkers.

His memory will be remembered by his daughters, Bev (Dean) Heishman of Deep River and Connie (Terry) Stephen of Montezuma; his seven grandchildren, Jeff (Mary) Heishman, Whitney Heishman, Roxxanne (Mike) Hicks, Rod Ritchie, Rhonda Ritchie, Kelly (Brian) Van Wyk and Byron (Margaux) Stephen; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Lavern (Betty) Piersel of Oskaloosa and two sisters, Lola Arthur and Fern (Bob) Cranston.

Loren was preceded in death by two wives, Verna in 1976 and Olive in 1998; five siblings, Helen (Lester) Hite, Dorothy (Cleo) Johannes, Selma (Don) Hoffer, Harold "Buster" Piersel and Shirley Hoover and a brother-in-law, William Arthur.
