Michael Joe Lewin Jr., the 11-month-old son of Michael and Barbara Lewin of 506 Center St., Grinnell, died Thursday afternoon at University Hospitals in Iowa City where he had been on life-support systems since birth.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves officiating. Organist was Naomi Reaves. Pallbearers were Randy Johnston and James Sears. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A memorial for Joey Lewin has been established with the nursery department of the First Assembly of God Church and donations may be left at the funeral home.
Joey Lewin was born Sept. 8, 1981, at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Jessica Lynn, 7; his grandmothers, Joyce Lewin of Perrysville, Ind., and Eva Mae Hubbard of Indianola, Ill.; and his paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hendrickson of Dyersburg, Tenn.
