MILDRED 'MARIE' RABER

Mildred "Marie" Raber, 75, of Kellogg, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at the Mayflower Community Health Center in Grinnell.

A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 17, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Ken Wallace officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Grinnell.

Memorials may be designated to the Marie Raber Memorial Fund and mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Marie's family at www.smithfh.com.

Mildred Marie Raber was born on May 21, 1938, in Grinnell to Lewis Albert Morrison and Mildred Louise Lamb Morrison. She was raised and educated in Malcom and Grinnell.

She was united in marriage with Doyle Raber on Sept. 30, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in the Grinnell area all of their married lives and Marie was a homemaker and assisted Doyle on the farm.

She loved music, humor and her family. She also held a special love for all the beauty of nature--from thunderstorms to birds--and her enjoyments included gardening, canning, baking, cooking and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Doyle Raber of Kellogg; three daughters, Regina Walter of Brooklyn, Rhonda Adkins of Grinnell, and Jody Davidson of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her mother, Mildred Morrison of Grinnell; and her siblings, Gene Morrison of Grinnell, and Betty Reams of Spokane, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, David Morrison; and one granddaughter.
