OBITUARY.
**************
O.D. GOODRICH
----------------

O.D. Goodrich, of Malcom, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 21, of pneumonia. The body was brought to Grinnell Wednesday afternoon for interment in the Hazelwood cemetery. The deceased was 81 years and 8 days old.

He was born in Iowa county, Wis., February 23, 1832, and came to Poweshiek county in 1858, and settled on a farm near Malcom. With the exception of five years spent in Iowa county, he has been a continuous resident of this county since 1858. November 11?, 1859, he married Miss Jane Walls, who died July 15, 1896. To this union 12 children were born, four dying in infancy. Of the remaining eight, two are dead, Lucius Goodrich, who passed away, June 4, 1895, and Mrs. Edith Stilwell, December 18, 1912. Those surviving are Mrs. Julia Eichhorn of Malcom, Hiram Goodrich of Linden, Iowa, Ellis Goodrich and George Goodrich of Ida Grove; Ira Goodrich of Grinnell, and Mrs. Addie Billick of Malcom.

O.D. Goodrich belonged to the pioneer element of Iowa although not born in the state. He was one of the thousands who in early days cast his lot here and under trying circumstances helped to point the way to great achievements. His life was full of the experiences of the early settler but he kept the faith and lived to see the marvelous changes. He was a good citizen, indulgent parent and had many warm friends who will regret to learn of his death.

To the bereaved sons and daughters the public will extend sincere sympathy.

NOTE: Poor quality and difficult to read.
