SUSAN SCURR
SERVICES HELD

Susan S. Scurr, 75, of the Mayflower Home died Wednesday evening at the Mayflower Home Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Russell of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Barbara Lien, and pallbearers were Dale E. Anthony, Susan B. Anthony, James R. Buitendorp, L. Kathleen Scurr, Joseph H. Scurr and Steven T. Scurr. Burial was at Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman.

The daughter of Joseph Harry and Ida Eunice Clark Scurr, she was born Jan. 18, 1906, in Gilman. She attended school in that community. She received her bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University at Ames and served as a home economics instructor in various Iowa high schools.

She received a master's of science degree from Penn State University and was employed as a dietician at Woodward State Hospital. In 1941 she took charge of all food services at Westminster, Pa. She retired in 1971 and continued to make her home in New Wilmington until moving to the Mayflower Home in August of 1980.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and formerly of the New Wilmington united Methodist Church. She was also a member of the P.E.O., the Order of Eastern Star, the Garden Club of New Wilmington, the Women's Club of New Castle, Pa., and the Thursday Club of New Wilmington. She was also involved as a volunteer worker for Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

Survivors include two brothers, J. Clark Scurr of Gilman and J.W. Reginald Scurr of Chicago.
