Arthur L Moore, age 86, of Grinnell, and formerly of Eldon, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Friendship Manor Care Center in Grinnell.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, at the Eldon Cemetery in Eldon with Darrel Swafford officiating

Memorials may be directed to the Arthur L Moore Memorial Fund.

Arthur was born the son of Arthur W and Edith E Beck Moore on March 21, 1922, in Eldon. He was raised and educated in Eldon. Following his education, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII.

He owned and operated Brooklyn Cleaners in Brooklyn before selling insurance for John Hancock Life and Farmers Mutual for 26 years. His enjoyments included hunting, fishing, dancing, and more recently, singing at the Elks Lodge in Cedar Rapids.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #273 in Grinnell, Elks Lodge #251 in Cedar Rapids, American Legion #294 in Brooklyn, and was a dedicated volunteer on the Brooklyn Fire Department.

Arthur is survived by his sons, Arthur Moore of Williamsburg, and Steven More of Jackson, MO; four grandchildren; and s step great-granddaughter.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearl Vaughn Moore; his second wife, Crystal Shipman Moore; and his sister, Shirley Cannedy.
