IRMA E. REIMERS

Funeral services for Irma Reimers were held Saturday morning, May 24, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, for Mrs. Irma Reimers, 78, of Brooklyn, formerly of Malcom. She died Wednesday morning, May 21, 1997, in Friendship Manor, Grinnell.

Mr. Dennis Smith, minister of he Madison Church of Christ, officiated. The organist was Jan Read. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. David DeVilder. Casketbearers were Mark Lang, Tim Siemens, Roy Williams, Charles Losh, Rod Robey and Terry Kloppenburg. Interment was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.

Irma Ethel Keller Reimers, daughter of James V. Keller and J. Gertrude Kenyon Keller, was born on a farm near Brooklyn in Madison Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, on Oct. 30, 1918.

Irma received her education in rural schools and the Brooklyn High School, graduating in 1936. On Feb. 14, 1945, she was married to Robert Harry Reimers in the home of her parents, rural Brooklyn. They farmed in Sheridan Township, retiring in 1987. Mr. Reimers died Jan. 20, 1993, and since Nov. 4, 1993, Mrs. Reimers has lived in Brooklyn.

She was a member of Madison Church of Christ and the Social Circle Community Club. She taught Sunday School for a number of years. She enjoyed helping her brother, Arthur Keller, deliver meals on wheels. She enjoyed gardening, her plants and flowers, crocheting and sewing, and the livestock on their farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and two sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Mason and her husband, Kenneth, of Stanley, Wis., and Arlene Rae, and her close friend, Jim May, of rural Malcom; two sons and their wives, Wesley and Katie Reimers of Clackamas, Ore., and Louis and Cindy Reimers of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Arthur Keller of Brooklyn; two sisters, Hazel LeBeau of Victor and Glenna, Mrs. Robert Evans, of Brooklyn; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established and may be left with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home.
