H.J. REIMERS

Funeral services for H.J. Reimers were held at Bramer Funeral Home in Brooklyn Aug. 15 with Pastor Elmer Elzey of Trinity Lutheran Church of Malcom, officiating.

Casketbearers were Arthur Keller, Lester Schneekloth, Charles Jones, Dan McConnell Jr., LaVern Hand and William Nagel. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Le Beau and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McKeag cared for the flowers.

Interment was in the Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom.

Harry John Reimers, son of the late Claus Reimers and Mathilda Schmitz was born Oct. 26, 1875 Scott county, Iowa.

His family moved to Poweshiek county when he was nine years old, where he lived until his marriage in January 1908 to Rosy Ohland. Two sons, Harley and Robert were born to this union. He and his wife lived in Texas for two years. They returned to Poweshiek county and lived in the Sheridan and Madison communities until going to Brookhaven in November of 1968.

Mr. Reimers farmed all his life and was known throughout the community as a good neighbor and friend and always ready to help anyone in need.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Malcom. He died Aug. 12, 1970 at the age of 94 years, nine months and 16 days.

He is survived by his sons, Harley and Robert; one brother, Claus of Jackson, Mich.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosy in February, 1953, his parents and seven sisters.

Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reimers, Jackson, Mich.; Mrs. Norman Smith, Homer, Mich.; Mr. Grant Ohland, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Homer Corw and Mrs. Frances Nessler of Garrison; Mrs. Ted Fuehrer of Vinton; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smithson, Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Goodrich, Dewey and Lucille Goodrich of Linden; Mrs. Florence Sack, Pella; Mr. Fred Ohland, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Varnum, Tama; Mrs. Ella Jackson and Edith Ohland, Grinnell and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sandersfeldt of Williamsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Swift of Silvis, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Bower, Silvis, Ill. and Mrs. Emma Emler of Moline, Ill.
