Memorial services for MRS. JAMES COOPER were held at 2 p.m. Dec 31,at the Steffy Funeral Home, conducted by the REV. GEORGE SNYDER and the REV. L. BRADBURY. ALICE UNDERWOOD played the funeral selections and accompanied BEN PURDUM who sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "City of Dreams."
Interment was in the Jackson township cemetery. Casket bearers were CLIFF SMITH, MADISON SAMS, ELOF ELIASON, H. L. DIETERICH, ALLEN SYLVIA, and DON NEWTON.
Rosa, daughter of OLIVE and JACOB ANDREWS, was born in Poweshiek county Feb 25, 1876, and died Dec 29 , at 84 years of age.
She attended the rural school near her home and early became a member of the Methodist Church. On Christmas day 1899 she was united in marriage with JAMES COOPER, and to this union two sons were born.
They lived on the Cooper farm for several years before moving to a farm near Fillmore, Saskatchewan, Canada, where they lived 12 years before returning to Montezuma to make their home. The past four years she had been in failing health, but four weeks ago she fell and received a broken hip.
Surviving are her husband of the home, the sons, WILLIAM COOPER, Los Angeles, and VIRGIL, with the armed forces in Okinawa; five grandchildren, a brother, JOHN ANDREWS, Knoxville, other relatives and many friends.
