JACOB ANDREWS,
ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES ON,
Jacob Andrews Was Eighty Years Old.

Came With Parents to This County in 1854. Was Born in Switzerland.

Jacob, child of NICHOLAS and MARGARET ANDREWS , was born in Zurich, Switzerland, on August 9 th , 1847 , and died at his home in Montezuma, Iowa, at 9:15, Friday evening, January 27 th, 1928, aged 80 years, 5 months and 18 days.

The family came to America when he was but a child of six years, visiting for a few months in New York State and Ohio, and finally settling in 1854 in Poweshiek county ,Iowa, near Brooklyn, where he grew to manhood, and received such education as the country schools then afforded.

He was married to Eliza Olive Bearnes on October 12th ,1873. To this union were born five children as follows: MRS ROSA MAY COOPER of Montezuma; JOHN ARTHUR of Oskaloosa: IRA who died when 18 months old; CLARENCE JOSEPH who passed away in 1911 ; WILLIE who died in infancy.

Mr. Andrews has been a farmer all his life near Montezuma, living for many years west of town. He came to Montezuma in 1908, where he has since lived.

He was baptized in infancy and converted about 60 years ago. He belonged to the Methodist Church at Ewart, and came to Montezuma` Church by letter in May , 1908, with faithful attendant and will be greatly missed among us.

He has not been well all fall and when the fatal disease fastened itself upon him a week ago, he did not have strength to throw it off.

He expressed himself as anxious and ready to go , and Friday evening, quietly , peacefully, he passed on to the land that is fairer then day.

He leaves besides the two children, three brothers, NICHOLAS of Redlands, California; REUBEN of Glade ,Kansas; and two sisters, MRS. MARY HANNAH of Montezuma, and MRS. ROSA BEARDSLEY of College View, Nebraska, as well as seven grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service were held at the Methodist Church on Monday afternoon, conducted by the REV. A. H. BARKER. Interment was made in the Montezuma Cemetery.

NOTE: Jacob was not born in Zurich, Switzerland. He was born in Messen, Solothurn, Switzerland.
