Oliver Perry Mason was born at Forest Home, Ia., April 8, 1866, and died at his home in Searsboro Aug. 12, 1911, at the age of 45 years, 4 months, and 4 days. On April 14, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Nelle L. Sparks of Lynnville, to which union one child was born, Glenn Harold, who survives him. His life was mostly spent in Searsboro and vicinity where he was engaged in business until some seven years ago when his health failed. He leaves a wife, one son, four sisters, and two brothers, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. His sisters, Mrs. McIntosh of Ida Grove, Mrs. Coons and Mrs. Bussons of Des Moines, and Mrs. Tish of Grinnell and Wm. Mason of Laurel, Neb., were present at the funeral, also Mrs. Mason's brother, S.J. Sparks of Alton, Kan., and two sisters, Mrs. Roten of Sully and Mrs. Sylvester of Newton. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 A.M. conducted by Rev. Mr. Pfontz of Lynnville and the remains were taken to Grinnell for interment.
