FUNERAL SERVICES
SCHEDULED TUESDAY
FOR ED DOBBS, 73

Funeral services for Edmond A. Dobbs, 73, of Grinnell, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Smith Funeral Home.

Dobbs, who had been in failing health for the past eight years, died early Sunday morning at his home at 305 Park St.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Wayne A. Shireman, pastor of the First Baptist church. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Fisch, Otto Fistler, Harvey Marcum, Dale Phipps, Gene Slaven, and Guy Slaven. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of Stephen C. and Rose Ann Hurt Dobbs, he was born in Wayne County, Ky., on Oct. 21, 1889. He attended the local schools near his home.

On April 21, 1917, he was united in marriage with Dora Lee Alexander at Monticello, Ky. To this union were born five children, two of whom survive: Mrs. Grace Mann of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Pauline Black of Iowa City.

Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Dobbs moved to Iowa and had made their home in Grinnell for 42 years. He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad.

In earlier years, he was a member of the Baptist church at Mt. Pisgah, Ky.

Survivors include his widow, Dora, at the family home; his two daughters, Grace and Pauline; and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Hubert of Searsboro; Berry and Frank of Somerset, Ky.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Barbary of Newton, Mrs. Matthew Hurt of Mt. Pisgah, Ky., and Mrs. Will Blevins of Somerset, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, George S., Curtis E., and Willis A. Dobbs; and three sisters, Fannie Alexander, Bell Criswell, and Ruby Simpson.
