RITES HELD FOR
MR. IVERSON

Chris Iverson, 83, died Friday afternoon at Friendship Manor, where he had made his home the past four years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marcus Reitz, pastor of the church, officiating. Music was provided by Charles Hoogland, organist, and Mrs. Ruth Ann Dayton, vocalist. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Keith Johnson, Paul Johnson, Leslie Iverson, Ronald Iverson, Daryl Bennett, Larry Iverson and Roger Iverson. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Child, R.S. Kinsey, Lester Hendrickson, Knudt Larsen, Kenneth McKeag, and Bert Wells.

Burial was at Rose Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery near Marshalltown, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials in Mr. Iverson's name may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

The son of Andrew and Rachel Kristopherson Skjorestad Iverson, he was born Nov. 13, 1892, at Stavanger, Norway. He attended schools near his home in Norway, coming to the U.S. in the fall of 1910.

On Feb. 19, 1916, he was married to Agnetta Christianson at her parents' home southeast of Grinnell. The couple had four children. Mr. Iverson farmed in Chester and Grant Townships before moving to Malcom Township. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway and was a member of the former Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Grinnell prior to its closing. He then joined St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnetta, in 1970. He returned to Norway in 1971 to visit his family, and since the fall of 1972 he made his home at Friendship Manor.

Survivors include his children, Mrs. Eldon (Stella) Johnson of Deep River, Mrs. John (Esther) Bennett of Laurel, Lawrence Iverson of Grinnell, and Arthur Iverson of Malcom; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Erling Skjorestad of Stavanger, Norway; and Mrs. Inga Bottnen of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandchild, two sisters, and one brother.
