MARILYN J. IVERSON, 80

Marilyn J. Iverson, 80, of Grinnell died on Tuesday, April 16, 2913, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20, at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Rose Blank, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Music was provided by William Tinker, organist and Marlene Englin, vocalist. Casket Bearers were Daryl Bennett, Les Iverson, Ron Iverson, Keith Johnson, Paul Johnson and Rick Peters. Honorary Bearers were her grandchildren: Laurie Iverson, Chris Iverson, Amy Oliver, Sara Schroeder, Hiliary Iverson, Beth Hauser, Brian Waskow, Matt Ross and Kyle Ross. Interment was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice or to the Poweshiek County Fair Association.

Marilyn was born on Oct. 15, 1932, in Marshalltown, to Everett and Elizabeth Davis Emmert. She was raised on farms near Grinnell, attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1949.

On Oct. 22, 1949, she was married to Arthur C. Iverson at the First Friends Church in Grinnell. The couple operated a grain and livestock farm southeast of Grinnell and she was a homemaker. She moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell in 2011.

Marilyn was a member of the Piece Makers Quilt Guild in Montezuma, the Ewart Presbyterian Church, and later, the Grinnell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, the Poweshiek County Fair, traveling, quilting and family events.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Linda) Iverson of Montezuma, Roger (Debbie) Iverson of Grinnell, Cheryl (Dave) Waskow of Jefferson, and Sandra (Pete) Ross of Montezuma; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Carol (Roger) Peters of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Alice Kriegel.
