MR. ROBISON RITES FRIDAY

Arthur A. Robison, 89, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, died Tuesday morning at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Mr. Robison had fallen on Dec. 11 and fractured his hip.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers will be James T. Robison, Richard Peters, Roger Peters, Richie Peters, Craig Peters, and Darrell Stimson.

Masonic services will be conducted by Clark Watkins and members of Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 273, AF and AM. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit, Marion Gibson, commander, and Edwin M. Richardson, chaplain. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of James William and Alice Louise Armstrong Robison, he was born April 10, 1887, in Spencer. While he was young, he moved with his parents to Grinnell, and he attended schools here.

He was married to Darcie Beatrice McKee on Sept. 15, 1915, in Grinnell. He attended the Elgin Watch Works in Elgin, Ill., and later returned to Grinnell to work as a jeweler with his father. Mr. Robison later had a jewelry store on Main St. in the Mullins Drug Store. In the 1950s, he was associated with his son in the watch-repair business in the former Yeager Jewelry Store on Fourth Ave. He retired following the fire on Fourth Ave. in 1962.

Mr. Robison was a longtime of the Grinnell Rotary Club and had been the club's secretary for a number of years. He was also a 50-year member of the Hermon Masonic Lodge and a charter member of Focht-Tennant Post No. 53, American Legion. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Order of Eastern Star, and United Church of Christ-Congregational. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I. He had made his home at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown since 1965.

Survivors include his two sons, Carl M. Robison of Leesville, La., and Orval J. Robison of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Keener of San Diego, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darcie, in 1964; and a sister, Mrs. Julie Marvin.
