ST. JOHN'S FOR
BERTHA PEDERSEN

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Bertha O. Pedersen, 93, this afternoon (Monday) from St. John's Lutheran church. Mrs. Pedersen died late Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Holley, following an extended illness.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. L.H. Streich. Organist was Mrs. Waldo Johnson and serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Carl Tokle and Mrs. Elmer Iverson.

Pallbearers were Paul Pedersen, Donald Pedersen, Bernard Pedersen, Richard Holley, William Pedersen Jr., and K. Mark Pedersen. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery with James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Ole and Anna Larsen Tokle, she was born on May 9, 1866, at Romsdalen, Norway. She came to the United States at the age of 17 and located near Sac City, Ia. She was united in marriage with Ommund Pedersen on Sept. 27th, 1892, at Odebolt, and Mr. Pedersen preceded her in death on June 27th, 1947.

Following their marriage they moved to a farm southeast of Grinnell and in 1898 moved to their farm two miles north of Grinnell on highway 146. In 1940 they retired and moved to Grinnell. For the last four years Mrs. Pedersen had made her home with her daughter.

Mrs. Pedersen was a member of St. John's Lutheran church.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Anna) Holley of Gilman; six sons, Paren, Orville, Leonard, Edwin and Lawrence, all of Grinnell, and William of Des Moines; one brother, Bert Tokle of Grinnell; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
