ONA DELENE THOMPSON, 82

Delene Thompson, 82, of Deep River, passed away Feb. 7, 2009, at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Deep River Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River, with Pastor Thomas Shumaker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the family's name. Friends may give condolences or sign the online guest book at hollandcoblefuneralhome.com. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ona Delene Thompson, daughter of John and Lilly (Scott) McGee, was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Roby, Texas. She was united in marriage to Olie Thompson on June 14, 1943, in Sweetwater, Texas. They moved to Iowa in 1963. She worked for Winegarden Hardware in Deep River for 30 years. Delene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Deep River Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, watching figure skating on T.V., and above all, her animals.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nita McGee of Longview, Texas; two nieces, Marty Duckett of Longview, Texas, and Lenora (Greg) Baxter of Elgin, Okla.; and many friends.

Delene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lilly McGee; and her husband, Olie Thompson.
