DELORES L. TERRELL

Delores L. Terrell, 87, of Grinnell died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at St. Francis Manor.

A funeral service was held Thursday, June 10, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Chitwood officiating. Memorials may be made to the Delores L. Terrell Memorial Fund to benefit Drake Community Library. Memories and condolences may be shared with her family at www.smithfh.com.

She was born, the daughter of Francis "Eugene" and Florence Eliza Thompson Cook, on Feb. 10, 1923, in Muscatine where she was raised and educated. She was united in marriage with Walter Wendell Terrell on April 7, 1951, in Rock Island, Ill. The family moved to Grinnell in 1953 where they owned a local barber shop for many years and she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her sons and daughters, Wendell Terrell of Eddyville, Clifford Terrell of Knoxville, Sandra Van Draska of Grinnell, Yvonne "Bonnie" Harvey of Santa Fe, N.M., and Grant Terrell of Indianola; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wendell in 1995; and her brothers, Dwayne, Forrest, Beverly and Douglas Cook.
