EVELYN MITCHELL

Evelyn Mae Mitchell, 81, of Nashua, N.H., formerly of Brooklyn and Grinnell,died Thursday, Oct. 14, at her home in Nashua.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Casket bearers were Matthew Bullers, Paul Bullers, Terry Butcher, Richard Dodge, Brian Mitchell and Mark Motes.

Burial was in the Westfield Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Des Moines to Jackson and Rose Kahler See. She was raised in Des Moines and attended school there.

On Aug. 19, 1936, she was married to Ernest Mitchell in Des Moines. The family lived in Brooklyn and operated a trucking company for many years. Mrs. Mitchell also worked as a waitress in area restaurants. Following their retirement, they moved to Grinnell, and in November 1994 she moved to Nashua.

Surviving are three children, Jack of Winnsboro, La., Mary Dodge of Nashua and Carol Butcher of Durham, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Bullers of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Marion See.
