LAWRENCE E. SEE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 24, at the Westfield Cemetery, south of Grinnell for Lawrence E. "Playmore See, 77, of Malcom, who died Sunday, June 21, 1998. Carol Wehr of the United Methodist Church of Malcom officiated. Music was "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden." David Story, Preston Shaw, Don Gay, Junior Sharp, John Hasley and Jerry Helleso were casket bearers.

Lawrence was born July 21 1920, in Des Moines, the son of Missouri Jackson See and Rose Minnie Kahler See. He spent most of his boyhood years in the Des Moines area.

On Jan. 25, 1941, he married Bertha Trease, with whom he had two sons. They lived in the Grinnell area for 30 years.

They later moved back to Des Moines, where Lawrence worked for Urbandale Schools for 18 years, retiring in 1983.

After retiring, the Sees moved back to the Grinnell area.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of Malcom; two sons, Lawrence of Houston and Marion of Malcom; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Mitchell of Nashua, N.H., and Betty Bullers of Grinnell; other relatives and many friends.
