JAMES SEE, 47,
DIES SUDDENLY
AT HOME MONDAY

James M. See, 47, of 106 Main Street, died suddenly at his home Monday.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Custer, pastor of the Grinnell Methodist church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Leonard Pearce.

Pallbearers were James Berman, Roy Foster, Marion Moll, Larry Moore, Russell Otcheck and Acel Worley. Interment was in the veterans section of Hazelwood cemetery with graveside rites conducted by W.K. Richardson, commander, Jack Day, chaplain, and members of Focht-Tennant Post No. 53, Grinnell American Legion.

The son of Joshua Bryant and Gail May Mitchell See, he was born Aug. 4th, 1918, in Grinnell. When he was a young boy his family moved to Iowa Center and then to Crook, Colo., where he attended the local schools.

On Mar. 4th, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with Co. C, 205th Infantry, in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.

After his discharge from the service, he lived in Moville and Des Moines before coming to Grinnell about four years ago. He had been employed by Sam Berman and Sons here.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Oliver J. See.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Charles (Eliza Edith) Shanks of Harrison, Neb., and a number of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
