JANET SEE

Janet See, 82, of Grinnell died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Janet See will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, at the Smith Funeral Home, with Mr. Al Sandlin, evangelist of the Grinnell Church of Christ, officiating. Vocalist will be Marla Crawford. Pallbearers will be Chris Diedrick, Keith Fetzer, Dwayne Kriegel, Kelley Kriegel, Richard and Rodney Massengale, Craig Paulson, Doug See Jr. and Rod See. Honorary bearers will be Rick Novinger, Harold See, Harry See, Terry Steele and Elmer Van Edgom. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.

The daughter of Ernest Eugene and Cassie Belle May Lawrence, she was born March 16, 1922, in Novinger, Mo. She attended rural schools near her home in Putnam County. On May 3, 1941, she married Dale Eugene See in Kirksville, Mo. The couple made their home in Grinnell, where they raised their family.

She was employed at several area businesses including Grinnell College, Mayflower Home and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. She also worked as a sales rep for Avon products.

She attended the West Liberty Church of Christ near Montezuma and later the Grinnell Church of Christ.

Survivors include two children, Doug See Sr. of Grinnell and Dianne Silverston of Fargo, N.D.; six sisters, Pansy Wellington and Anabelle Novinger of Novinger, Mo., Shirley Steele and Phyllis Sitton of Grinnell, Charlotte Van Edgom of Montour and Loretta See of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Jerry Lawrence of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Earnest and Rodney Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Janet See Memorial Fund or Grinnell Regional Hospice.
