BETTY L. BULLERS

Betty L. Bullers, 69, of Grinnell died Monday. Aug. 27, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 31, at the Smith Funeral Home with John Epperson, pastor of Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Interment was in Westfield Cemetery, rural Grinnell. Memorials may be directed to the Betty Bullers Memorial fund to benefit charities of the family's choice. Online condolences may be submitted to the family at www.smithfh.com.

The daughter of Jackson and Rosa Kahler See, she was born March 19, 1938, in Grinnell, where she was raised and educated. She was united in marriage with Paul Bullers on June 1, 1958, in First Assembly of God Church in Grinnell. They were the parents of five children, Michael, Anna, Melody "Sue", Kelly and Matthew. She was employed at Friendship Manor Care Center in Grinnell as a supervisor for several years, then was employed as a cook at Grinnell College until her health forced her to retire in 1991.

A proud and strong woman who loved her family she was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She also enjoyed fishing, reading romance novels, tending her garden and flower bed, going camping and taking trips to Branson, Mo.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul Bullers; her children Michael Bullers of York, Neb., Anna Bullers, Sue Bullers and Matthew Bullers of Grinnell and Kelly Ehlinger of Urbandale; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren Kevin and Kyle Bullers; two brothers, Lawrence and Marion See and one sister Evelyn Mitchell.
