RITES SET FOR MR. LENDER

Darrell G. Lender, 52, of Rte. 4, Grinnell died of an apparent heart attack while working at Grinnell College Friday noon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church of Sully, with the Rev. Carl J. Klompien officiating. Organist will be Larry Jansen, and vocalist will be Russell Stravers. Pallbearers will be Donovan Evans, Harold Horn, Randy Mikles, Hollis Phipps, Chet Sears, Jerome Sheets and Gene Story.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit, with burial at the Sully Cemetery.

The son of Albert and Elizabeth Briggs Lender, he was born Dec. 19, 1928, at Irvona, Pa. His family later moved to Brooklyn where he graduated from Brooklyn High School.

He was married to Marie A. Versendaal on Nov. 1, 1952, at Sully. Following their marriage they lived at Cedar Rapids where they were employed by the Collins Radio Co. They later moved to the Searsboro area, and Mr. Lender farmed and worked for Standard Oil Co. and Grinnell College. Mr. Lender was a buildings foreman in the Building and Grounds Department of Grinnell College.

He was a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church. During the Korean conflict, he served as a construction engineer in the U.S. Army. He was discharged from the reserve forces in 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; his children, Darla Marie Greiner of Marion, Daniel Dean Lender of Ames, Delmar Gene Lender of Grinnell and Duane Keith Lender of Decatur, Ala.; a brother, Don K. Lender of Brooklyn; and a sister, Helen Teraberry of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Lender; and a sister, Sandra Sue Lender.
