DON LENDER

Don Lender, 57, of Brooklyn died Tuesday night, Oct. 16, in University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Funeral services for Mr. Lender were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Kalen K. Fristad, pastor, officiated and the organist was Mrs. Angie Hawkins. Flower attendants Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mohr and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dayton. Casket bearers were Steve Plants, Bill Plants, Dick Plants, Dennis Plants, Ronnie Plants, and Del Miller. Flag presentation ceremonies were conducted by members of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294. Interment was in the Brooklyn cemetery.

The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Don Kenneth Lender, son of Albert Lender and Elizabeth Briggs Lender, was born Jan. 24, 1933 in Deep River. He received his education in the Brooklyn school graduating from high school in 1951. Don served with the army during the Korean War. He was a feed salesman for 30 years and was employed by Cargill Nutrena Feeds.

He was united in marriage Aug. 23, 1958 to Jeannette Starnes in The Little Brown Church at Nashua.

Don was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294, Brooklyn Victor Country Club, and worked the clock at football games at Brooklyn.

Surviving Mr. Lender are his wife, Jeannette; two daughters and their husbands, Dawnette and Greg Taylor of Brooklyn, and Sheryal and Steve Seye, all of Brooklyn; one sister, Helen, Mrs. Richard Tearberry of Des Moines and four grandchildren, Teralyn and Kelby Taylor, Lindsey and Logan Seye, all of Brooklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Kenneth Dale; two brothers, Dale and Darrell; and one sister, Sandra.
