HARLAN GROSS, 61,
DIES THURSDAY NIGHT
AFTER HEART ATTACK

Harlan Gross, 61, well-known farmer east of Grinnell, died Thursday evening at a local hospital after suffering a heart attack while working in the field that day.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. G.C. Wiegand, pastor.

Joe McCoy was vocal soloist and Mrs. Willard Heffner organist. On the flower committee were Mrs. Richard Wichman, Mrs. Stanley Ahrens and Mrs. Erwin Schultz. Pallbearers were Emmet Douglass, Richard Wichman, Stanley Ahrens, Louis Oltrogge, Elmer Broders and Erwin Schultz.

Born in Malcom township Aug. 1, 1892, Gross made his home in that community most of his life. He farmed and for a short time had the service station which was torn down recently at the 6-63 junction.

Survivors are his wife, Evelyn; three sons, Kenneth who farms near Grinnell and Claire and Willis at home; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy (Keith) Downey of Grinnell and Mrs. Fay (Grover) Loftin of Malcom; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers, Glenn of Newton and Milton of Chelsea. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother in addition to his parents.
