ROBERT BRYAN

Robert G. Bryan, 73, of Grinnell died of a respiratory ailment Thursday, July 26, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Pianist will be Betty Ann Battey. Casket bearers will be Don Milburn, Harold Moyer, Jeff Phelps, Kenneth Saunders, Robert Stewart and Les Tharp. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

He was the son of Charles and Mary Isabelle Henry Bryan and was born July 30, 1927, in Grinnell. He attended Grinnell schools.

On June 11, 1949, he was married to Phoebe A. Jackson in Grinnell. The couple had three children, Steven, Nancy and Peggy.

On May 2, 1964, he was married to Blanche O. Hartzell Lowe, in Grinnell. They owned and operated Bryan's Shoe Service.

Mr. Bryan was a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his children, Steve, Nancy Scott and Peggy Ferron, all of Seattle, Wash.; one step-son, Steve Lowe of Des Moines; six sisters, Bessie Wright, Hazel Brim, Ruth Mithelman, Clara Halstead and Margaret Osborn, all of Grinnell, and his twin, Roberta "Sally" Todd of Paulson, Mont.; two brothers, William "Abe" of Grinnell and Roy of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; his parents; and two brothers, Alvin and Ray.
