HESPER MARLOWE

Hesper Marlowe, 89, of Clinton, formerly of Grinnell, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Samaritan North Hospital in Clinton.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of David and Emma Miller McBlain, she was born July 5, 1904, in Grinnell. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School and Iowa State University. She taught school for one year in Charlotte before moving to Chicago. She returned to Grinnell in 1943 where she owned and operated the McBlain Greenhouse. She retired in the late 1970s and moved to Clinton in 1990. She was a former member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational.

Surviving are one son, David of Clinton; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Emma Marlowe; a sister, Martha McBlain; and one grandson.
