ZOLA HAMMOND

Zola Hammond, 95, of Conrad died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Oakview Care Center in Conrad.

Funeral services for Zola Hammond were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, at the Beaman United Methodist Church, with interment following at the Oakland Cemetery in rural Beaman.

A visitation was held Sunday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad.

Zola Rosetta Hammond was born April 13, 1911, in Whitten, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Blanche Olmstead Schryver. She was raised and educated in Whitten.

She married Andrew Hammond on Jan. 9, 1928, also in Whitten. The couple farmed in the Beaman area for many years and, following their retirement, moved to Grinnell for 10 years. They later returned to Beaman, where she was a member of the Beaman United Methodist Church and the Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by two sons, Montie Hammond of Grinnell and Veryl Hammond of Eldora; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Delmer Delos Hammond.
