MINNIE M. GREEN

Minnie M. Green, 83, of 223 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died of cancer Tuesday, March 31, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at *Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman, with Tim Green and Troy Vande Lune officiating. There will be no visitation. The Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

She was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Newburg to Oliver Oren and Lillie Walkup Bell. She was raised in Newburg and attended schools there and in Grinnell.

She was married to Edmund I. Green March 13, 1933, in Union, Mo. The couple farmed near Gilman until 1941, then moved to Grinnell.

Mrs. Green worked in the dietary department of the Mayflower. She retired in 1971, and the couple moved to Brownsville, Texas, where they operated a mobile home court. They moved to Monroe in 1986 and returned to Grinnell in 1993.

She was a member of the Fire Auxiliary, the Grandmothers Club and the Pythian Sisters.

Surviving are one son, John of Grinnell; two daughters, Beverly Moyer of Grinnell and Lillian "Alice" Shuler of Kellogg; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlene Rutherford of Newton and Eva Jones of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Wayne; one daughter, Maxine M. Jones; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; four brothers, Verne, Clarence, George and Dale Bell; and four sisters, Bernice Pearce, Wilma Garwood, Elva Adams and Evelyn Simpson.

Memorial contributions may be directed the Grinnell Fire Department Rescue Truck Fund.
