WILMA GARWOOD RITES MONDAY

Wilma Garwood, 72, of 824 Prince St., Grinnell, died Thursday morning, July 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, officiating. Organist was Naomi Reaves. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Kirk Garwood; Glenn and Raymond Baker; Steve, Michael and Gary Cox; Alan and Michael Bunn; Kenny Huff and Hermon Spencer.

Burial was in the *Hickory Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association.

The daughter of Oliver and Lillie Walkup Bell, she was born June 3, 1913, in Poweshiek County. She received her education in the Newburg School.

She was married to Glenn D. Garwood in 1931 in Grinnell. Mrs. Garwood was employed at DeLong Sportswear of Grinnell and Midwest Stamping Co. at Kellogg. She continued to live in Grinnell after her retirement in 1972.

Mrs. Garwood is survived by her children, Keith Garwood and Joyce Baker, both of Grinnell; Charlotte Cox of Blue Springs, Mo.; Geraldine Huff of Cudahy, Calif.; and Lillie Bunn of Brooklyn; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Luverne Bell of Marshalltown, Clarence Bell of Tama and Dale Bell of Popejoy; and four sisters, Minnie Green of Brownsville, Texas, Arlene Rutherford of Newton, Eva Jones of Grinnell and Evelyn Simpson of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, George Bell; and two sisters, Bernice Pearce and Elva Adams.
