ROBERT G. THOMASON, 64

Robert Gordon Thomason, 64, of Montezuma, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

His funeral service was Monday, Nov. 14, at the First Presbyterian Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Dr. George M. Salnave, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma. Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of the arrangements. The Phythian service was performed graveside by the Montezuma Aztec Lodge No. 238.

Casket bearers were Wayne Davis, Gary Thompson, Frank Helm, Dick Gregory, James Smothers and Rodney McKee.

Honorary casket bearers were Frank Wheeler, Harold Wheeler, Ivan Klein, Roger Watson, Kenneth Peterson, Al Perkins, Mike Davis and Tim Leonard.

Bob was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Prairie City, the son of Lyle and Esther (Peterson) Thomason. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1959. On August 6, *1951, he was united in marriage with Donna McKee at the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma. To this union two children were born, Teresa and Eric. Bob worked a brief time as a farmhand for Al Silverman and then at the Texaco Station in Montezuma until 1964. In the spring of 1964, he began farming with his father-in-law Donald McKee and later, his son, Eric. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had served on the board of trustees and session. He was also a member of the Aztec Lodge, Knights of Pythias at Montezuma. He had been a member of Jaycees and the Montezuma Lions Club. He liked reading, fishing, camping and being outdoors and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren's activities.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna, and their family, Teresa and Loren Elliott of Solon, and Eric Thomason of Montezuma; four grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Caitlin Elliott and Siraj Thomason; his sister, Donna and Wayne Davis of Montezuma; a nephew, Mike Davis, and a niece, Michele Leonard and their families; parents-in-law Donald and Norma Jean McKee of Montezuma; a sister-in-law, Janet McKee, of Montezuma, and other relatives and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
