DONALD K. MCKEE, 88

Donald K. McKee, 88, of Montezuma, passed away on Oct. 13, 2007, at the Pella Comfort House in Pella.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma. Friends may greet family at the Watts Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Donald K. McKee, the son of Fred A. and Nelle Maude Gorsuch McKee was born on March 20, 1919, in Montezuma. He graduated from Montezuma with the Class of 1936.

On Jan. 2, 1941, Don was united in marriage with Norma Jean Shadley in Montezuma. Don was a farmer. He loved the land and he was passionate about land conservation and passing those values to his son-in-law and grandson. He won the district award for soil conservation in 1986. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served on various boards. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren's athletic and music events. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Bob Thomason; his sister, Lucile McKee and his brother, Charles McKee.

Those left to honor Don's memory include his wife of 66 years, Norma Jean McKee of Montezuma; his daughters, Donna Thomason of Montezuma and Janet McKee of Montezuma; his two grandchildren, Eric Thomason of Montezuma and Teresa Elliott of Solon, and his four great-grandchildren, Ryan Elliott, Brandon Elliott, Caitlin Elliott and Siraj Thomason.

Memorials may be designated to the First Presbyterian Church or to Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
