GLEN STRAND

Glen Strand, 84, of Grinnell died Thursday, March 14, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Del Dawes officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Earl, Mike, and Rob Lewis and Kurt, Matthew, Mike, Neil and Tim Strand. Burial was in Stavanger Cemetery, Dunbar, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The son of Jessie and Ruth Somme Strand, he was born March 22, 1917, in Poweshiek County. He was a 1933 graduate of Gilman High School.

On March 8, 1937, he was married to Olive Keese in Newburg. They farmed in Marshall County prior to moving to a farm near Grinnell in 1965.

Mr. Strand was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and was active with several church committees.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Sharon Lewis of Urbandale; three sons, Neil of Marshalltown, Tim of San Jose, Calif., and Kurt of Gilman; one brother, Lyle of LeGrand; one sister, Lorraine Zucker of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded in him in death.
