May 17, 1910MRS. MARGARET KAISAND
On Monday morning, May 9th, 1910, at five minutes after 7 o'clock, Mrs. Margaret Kaisand passed calmly and peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Ahrens, five and a half miles north-west of Grinnell.
Mrs. Kaisand was born January 24th, 1820, being 90 years, 3 months and 18 days of age, at the time of her death. She came to this country in 1885 and after spending a year in Baltimore, Mr. and Mrs. Kaisand settled near Sheridan, Iowa, where they made their home until Mr. Kaisand passed away and it was at his request that she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. John Ahrens.
Mrs. Kaisand had been failing in health for several weeks and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Kaisand was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom are still living and three who are with their mother in "Mansions of Rest."
Short funeral services were held at the John Ahrens home on Wednesday, at 9:30, and from there the body was taken to the German Lutheran cemetery in Malcom, Iowa, for burial.
The six grandsons were pallbearers.
The floral offerings and sorrowing friends and neighbors alone show the esteem in which Mrs. Kaisand was held. Although a kind and affectionate mother has gone to an eternal rest, the sorrowing sons and daughters will have the peace and joy of meeting her again in eternity. She is gone but not forgotten and in the hearts of her dear children a vacant place is left which only time and memories of her true Christian life can heal.
