OSCAR SCHULTE

Funeral Services for Oscar Schulte, 89, of Brooklyn, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 1987, in the Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Mr. Schulte died Wednesday night, May 6, in his home.

Rev. Lynn Williams, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. The pianist was Miss Carrie Willett and the soloist was Kelly Willett. Honorary casket-bearers were members of the Coffee Gang; casket-bearers were Dale Hawkins, Gene Willett, Jack Kriegel, Dean Hawkins, Walt Kriegel, and John Manatt. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Oscar Charles Schulte was born January 10, 1898, on a farm in Worth County, Iowa, the son of Herman H. Schulte and Margaret Bierbaum Schulte. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith - a heritage he maintained throughout his life. He served on the church board for a number of years. He attended the rural schools.

On December 20, 1922, he was united in marriage with Marie Catherine Kriegel of Brooklyn, Iowa. They farmed on the Schulte farm for forty seven years. In 1957 they were privileged to serve on the building committee for the New Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In 1965 they retired and moved to Brooklyn, Iowa. Here he made many friends and regularly enjoyed a coffee hour with a number of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife Marie and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
