MRS. ANNA STRAND
DIES SUDDENLY
AT HOME TUESDAY

Mrs. Anna Madaline Strand, 65, wife of Victor W. Strand of Grinnell, died suddenly Tuesday evening at her home as a result of a heart ailment.

Rosary services will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) by the Alter and Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Leo Kuebrich, pastor of St. Mary's church, at the Smith Funeral Home. Reguiem High Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Kuebrich officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Brooklyn.

The daughter of John and Elizabeth Seibert Kriegel, she was born near Brooklyn on Feb. 29, 1896. She attended the local rural schools near her home.

On Nov. 27, 1917, in Brooklyn, she was united in marriage with Victor Strand by the Rev. James O'Neill. To this union eight children were born, four of whom survive: Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Cass of Newton; Mrs. Herbert (Velma) Castorf of Cedar Rapids; Robert Strand of Milan, Ill.; and Mrs. Francis (Nora) Malloy of Grinnell.

The family farmed in the Kellogg, Laurel, Melbourne and Van Cleve areas for a time and moved to a farm northeast of Grinnell 15 years ago. They lived there for 10 years and moved to Grinnell five years ago.

Mrs. Strand was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and the Alter and Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors include her husband, Victor; four children and eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. George Cline of Brooklyn; and two brothers, John Kriegel of Brooklyn and Albert Kriegel of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four children, two of whom died in infancy and two at the age of 15 months and three years; four brothers, George, Henry, Joseph, and Nickolas Kriegel; and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hauersperger.
