Laura Kriegel, 72, of Grinnell died Sunday, Aug. 3, at Friendship Manor here.
Funeral services for Laura Kriegel will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. William Reynolds, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers will be Ben and Eric Anderson; Tigh, Marcus and Shaun Kriegel; Dustin Mouchka; and Mike Noftsger. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
She was born May 8, 1931, in Chenault, Ky., the daughter of Benjamin Groaze and Alice Bernice Bellou Howard. She was raised and educated in the Kentucky community and moved to Grinnell in 1946, where she worked at a laundry service.
She married Henry E. Kriegel June 14, 1947, in Grinnell.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Anderson of Grinnell and Brenda Kriegel of Beulah, N.D.; three sons, Joseph of Newton, Henry Jr. of Grinnell and David of Belle Plaine; three brothers, G.B. and James Howard, both of Louisville, Ky., and Marvin Wright of Freemont, Mo.; five sisters, Mary D'Andrea of Glendale, Ariz., Erlin Conley of West Point, Ky., and Brooke Hall and Jean Daniels, both of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Susan Wickliff; and a sister, Frances Matheny.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary's or to the American Cancer Society.
