LOUIS GORSUCH RITES HELD FRIDAY

Funeral services for Louis Gorsuch were conducted by the Rev. Martin Gruneich Friday afternoon, Feb. 2, at the Montezuma Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dennis Brand was the organist at the services.

Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lewis Lundy, Laverne Grier, Donald Crider, Allen Wheeler, Frank Wheeler and Charles McKee.

Mr. Gorsuch, 72, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa.

The son of John and Lucy Gorsuch, he was born on a farm east of Montezuma on June 5, 1895.

In his youth he attended rural school and graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1914.

On March 19, 1919, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Hutchinson and to this union two sons were born. Their entire married life has been spent in or near Montezuma.

Mr. Gorsuch was engaged in farming for several years. He also was employed by the First National Bank of Montezuma.

One of his chief interests was in music. He was organist for the Methodist Church for many years and played for weddings and funerals.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as elder and trustee. He was active in the Knights of Pythias and the Pythian Sisters Lodge and served as pianist for both organizations.

In 1956 Mr. and Mrs. Gorsuch retired from the farm and moved into Montezuma. For the past 15 months he has been in failing health.

He is survived by his wife and their two sons, Forrest and John; three grandchildren, Larry, Airman 1st Class, stationed at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, Maine; David and Nancy, both of Montezuma; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Hutchinson and Mrs. Fred McKee, both of Montezuma; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Guy Gorsuch, of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Guy.
