DIES SUNDAYHoward F. Lowry, 48, farmer in Washington township near Searsboro, died at his home Sunday morning, May 15.
Mr. Lowry had been in ill health since an accident three years ago.
Funeral services will be held from Friends Community Church at Searsboro Tuesday afternoon, 2 o'clock, with Rev. Myrtle Lee and Rev. Annie Greiner officiating.
Born near Taintor in Poweshiek county on Jan. 8, 1907, he was the son of the late George Franklin Lowry and Mrs. Etta Catterson Lowry. He was married on April 4, 1928 to Vivian Miller at Newton.
A lifetime resident of the community, he was a well known farmer and member of Friends Community Church.
Surviving are his mother, his wife, a son, Richard of Searsboro; two daughters, Mrs. K.R. (Shirley) Paulson and Mrs. D.J. (Loretta) Cooper of Grinnell; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Mitchell and Mrs. A.J. Grosenbach of Grinnell; and a brother, Thomas Lowry of near Searsboro.
At the final rites, Caroline Orcutt will be pianist and Alfred Steen soloist. Burial will be at West Liberty cemetery east of Searsboro with Smith Funeral Home in charge.
